SYNOPSIS

Seven short films commemorate the Porajmos, the genocide of Roma* and Sinti* during the Second World War, and illustrate the stories of survivors and victims through multifaceted animated images. These are seven stories and fates that not only tell “painful truths,” and focus death and loss. They are also stories of resistance, cohesion, self-assertion and finding one’s way back into life.

Each film is individually illustrated and animated and rich in detail. The drawings, collages and archive materials thus create images that stay. “The second time people die is when they are forgotten,” says the title short film. But these films call to remember and make history tangible and alive.
