SYNOPSIS

MY STOLEN PLANET tells the story of filmmaker Farahnaz Sharifi, who was born in Iran in 1979 after the Islamic revolution, in diary form. At the age of seven, she realises that she lives in two worlds. In the world of the ayatollahs and in the world in which she dares to be herself.

Sharifi creates an alternative history of Iran from her own images and memories and from other people’s photographs rescued from bazaars: dancing becomes a gesture of resistance, solidarity stands up to oppression. Then, in autumn, the movement ‘Women! Life! Freedom!’, which marked a turning point in Sharifi’s life, as it did for many other Iranians. An inspiring film about the power of images and the fight against forgetting.

In cooperation with Woman, Life, Freedom – Nürnberg-Erlangen e.V.

Following the screening on Thursday, 17 October, producer Anke Petersen will be present for a film discussion. This will be followed by a concert by Iranian singer Shabnam Zamani and Jean de l’ Aire in the salon of the Künstlerhaus.
