SYNOPSIS
What do you do when you suddenly discover that your favorite aunt was involved in torture and murder? Lissette Orozco’s aunt was her model and heroine. But then she was accused of having tortured people during Augusto Pinochet’s military dictatorship. Orozco’s world collapsed and she embarked on a courageous and deeply personal mission to shed light on Chile’s dark past. The film won the Peace Film Award at this year’s Berlinale. It is said that every family has a dark secret. Lissette Orozco found this out the hard way, while making a film. She discovered that her favorite aunt had worked for the secret police (DINA) under Pinochet’s regime. Shocked, she took to her laptop and Skype to find out more about the past, caught between family loyalty and doubt. Her aunt denied the allegations vehemently, refusing to speak and actually trying to enlist her niece’s help to save her honor. A crucial test. Who is telling the truth? Who can be believed?
LISSETTE OROZCO
Director and screenwriter Lissette Orozco, born in Santiago de Chile in 1987, studied documentary at the Universidad de Artes, Ciencias y Comunicación in Santiago. Adriana’s Pact is her feature film debut and has already received support during its development phase from the Tribeca Film Institute. She has worked on various film projects as assistant director, researcher, consultant and writer.
