SYNOPSIS

For most refugees, the Aegean is the gateway to Europe. Hoping for freedom and peace, the three Afghan youths Hossein, Reza and Kaka end up stranded in Greece, a country which is broken financially and cannot cope with the numbers of refugees. For three years, the three try to escape the inhuman circumstances despite the EU’s isolation policies and to get further into Western Europe. LEAVING GREECE is the very personal tale of three friends, for which escape attempts, fear and persecution are daily occurrences. A moving, shameful documentary!
