What Does Justice Look Like?
A consideration from the perspective of international criminal law
Wars leave behind societies that have experienced so much violence that it is difficult to imagine how it can be properly processed, yet terms such as “reconciliation” and ‘reparation’ have a key role to play in peace processes. But how can we talk about violence? What are the different means of processing it? What does it mean for those affected that violence is being “processed”? And how does a society deal with the perpetrators? We will explore these questions in a discussion with directors Mila Teshaieva and Marcus Lenz and Christoph Safferling, Director International Nuremberg Principles Academy. You are cordially invited to view “ Shards of Light ” from an international criminal law perspective and to critically discuss the possibilities and limitations of (international) criminal law. The panel discussion will be moderated by Astrid Walter of the International Nuremberg Principles Academy.
