SYNOPSIS
A space in silence, where past has captured present. Taking over, layer by layer, the collective pain enters the landscape, the space, the city.
Eventually, it enters us. Srebrenica becomes a reality of today, and our own reality. Disturbed Earth is a cinematic reflection on the Srebrenica massacre and its echoes today. Handling the remnants of the 1995 genocide, in which more than 8,000 people were murdered over a 12-day period, the film is a homage to the resolute persistence of the human spirit and its capacity to endure the most horrifying circumstances.

Kumjana Novakova
Kumjana Novakova, originally born in Macedonia, has worked in the field of film and arts since 2006. She is the co-founder, chief curator and director of the Pravo Ljudski Film Festival in Sarajevo, an associated professor at the Non-Fiction Department of ESCAC, Barcelona, and an author. Her research lays between cinema and contemporary video art, often exploring how moving images address identities, memories and the collective self. Kumjana currently lives between Sarajevo and Skopje. After several collaborations, DISTURBED EARTH is the first feature film together with Guillermo Carreras-Candi.

Guillermo Carreras Candi
Guillermo Carreras-Candi is a content and creative executive and independent filmmaker living in Barcelona. He graduated at the Catalan Film University (ESCAC-UB) where he specialized in Documentary Film. Several of his films take place in the Balkan region, including his graduation film TRAGOVI and the documentaries SK 2014 and WHEN THE CLOUDS BURST, both co-directed with Kumjana Novakova. DISTURBED EARTH is the first feature film together with Kumjana.
