SYNOPSIS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Germany, 1957. While most in the new Federal Republic of Germany want to forget the Nazi past as quickly as possible, one man fights unremittingly for Nazi perpetrators to be tried. Twelve years after the end of the war, the uncompromising chief public prosecutor Fritz Bauer receives a crucial tip as to where Nazi SS-Obersturmbannf\u00fchrer Adolf Eichmann is hiding. He starts doing background research with the young public prosecutor Karl Angermann.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The significance of the role played by the chief public prosecutor of Hesse Fritz Bauer to bring about the Frankfurt Auschwitz trials of the 1960s is uncontested. His merit in catching Eichmann became clear only after his death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201eThe screenplay of the absorbing thriller FRITZ BAUER was written by the director Lars Kraume and the French author Olivier Guez, whose \u201eL\u2019impossible retour, une histoire des juifs en Allemagne depuis 1945\u201c was used as a basis. They transform Bauer\u2019s struggle to shed light on the Nazi crimes into a historical drama and a moving biopic about a man whose fate and name have unfortunately been forgotten in Germany.\u201c (Katharina Dockhorn)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LARS KRAUME<\/strong>
Lars Kraume was born in 1973 in Italy but grew up in Frankfurt am Main. In 1992 he made his first short film 3:21. He graduated in 1998 from Deutsche Film- und Fersehakademie in Berlin and his shortfilm LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO DANCE WITH UGLY WOMEN won the price for the best short film at Turin Film Festival. He directed several award winning films. In 2007 he founded the production company Badlands Film with Matthias Glasner and J\u00fcrgen Vogel. His family drama MY SISTERS premiered in Berlinale\u2019s Panorama section in 2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
