SUMMARY:Souls Unshackled with film talk
DESCRIPTION:Souls unshackled – Let us be in a hurry to be human\n \n\nGermany\, Iran 2024\, 95 min\, Persian\, German with Germans subtitles\, directed by: Roxana Samadi \n\nOn September 16\, 2022\, Jina Mahsa Amini was arrested by the Iranian morality police for wearing her headscarf incorrectly. Three days later\, she died in custody. Her death sparked an outcry\, including in Germany. Many Iranian women in exile who fled the regime in Iran in the 1970s showed their protest – but also second-generation German-Iranian women such as Jasmin Shakeri\, Pegah Ferydoni\, Natalie Amiri and Enissa Amani. Together\, they took to the streets for freedom in their distant homeland. \n\nSOULS UNSHACKLED shows the tireless struggle of these exiles for the feminist revolution in Iran (2022-2023) with the aim of helping their homeland to freedom from the diaspora. And makes it clear how important the struggle of each and every individual is for a world that thinks and acts freely. \n\n\n Wed\, 16.4. at 8 p.m.\, with Roxana Samadi (director)\, Moderator: Andrea Kuhn (NIHRFF)\n \n\n\nInfos\n\n\n\nTickets

SUMMARY:What a Feeling with Q&A
DESCRIPTION:What a Feeling Austria 2024\, 110 min\, German\, directed by: Kat Rohrer \n\nTo get in the mood for Lesbian Visibility Week\, the warm-hearted lesbian rom-com will be screened in the Casablanca Cinema. This will be followed by an audience discussion with director Kat Rohrer\, moderated by Andrea Kuhn. \n\nOn her wedding day\, Viennese doctor Marie Theres receives a special gift from her husband: He wants to separate from her! To calm her nerves\, Marie Theres reaches for a glass. Quite drunk\, she stumbles into Bigi’s lesbian bar and simply continues drinking with the commitment-shy regular Fa. The next morning\, all she can remember is that Fa walked her home. But did they also…? In any case\, she can’t get the exciting woman out of her head. A tempestuous romance takes its course\, which even Marie Theres’ bourgeois circle of friends and Fa’s Persian mother are carried away by. \n\nIn von Kat Rohrer\, Caroline Peters and Proschat Madani shine as two women who only find each other in mid-life – but then they really do. It’s about self-knowledge\, the courage to make a new start and decisions that feel right\, no matter what anyone else thinks or says. What a feeling! \n\n \n\n\nInfos & Tickets

SUMMARY:"German Colonial Genocide in Namibia: Swakopmund" - Film screening and film talk
DESCRIPTION:German Colonial Genocide in Namibia: Swakopmund \n\nin cooperation with Filmhaus Nürnberg im KunstKulturQuartier and medico international e.V. \n\nSwakopmund was the most important seaport in ‘German South West Africa’. The Hamburg shipping company Woermann set up its headquarters there in 1894. People and goods came ashore there – especially weapons and soldiers for the war against the local population. After the German extermination orders against all Ovaherero and Nama\, the survivors of the first genocidal mass killings were herded into concentration camps and subjected to brutal forced labour. Two of these camps were in Swakopmund. Today\, mass graves here bear witness to the colonial extermination – but also to the economic profit of German colonists\, which continues in today’s Namibia. \n\nSWAKOPMUND is the latest film research by the Forensic Architecture collective\, in which they tell the story of the cruel colonial legacy of Germany\, Namibia and the OvaHerero and Nama peoples under the title ‘Erased Memories\, Disrupted Futures’. Using a unique aesthetic\, they combine scientific measurements\, historical documents and oral testimonies from the descendants of the survivors of the German genocide to create digital reconstructions of the colonial environment. They bring the landscapes to life and recreate the horror that continues to this day. The films give the descendants a voice that people elsewhere tried to deny them. The films also tell of the conditions that threaten to erase the colonial legacy forever. \n\nOn 4 December 2024\, Forensic Architecture will be awarded the Alternative Nobel Prize in Stockholm for its artistic-forensic oeuvre. \n\nFollowing the film\, Laidlaw Peringanda (Swakopmund Genocide Museum) and Mark Mushiva (Forensis/Forensic Architecture) will discuss the struggle for justice between Namibia and Germany in the face of German colonial crimes with moderator Julia Manek (medico international). \n\nCountries: United Kingdom/Namibia/GermanyYear: 2024Principal Investigator: Eyal WeizmanRun Time: 29 minLanguage: English with German Subtitles \n\n\nTickets and Infos\n\n\n\nForensic Architecture
